It’s been 7 years since Chester Bennington, the co-lead singer and songwriter for Linkin Park passed away. We lost him on July 20, 2017.

I remember when I made the post announcing his death on my Facebook page. That memory is not one I’ll probably ever forget. Here we were watching the paparazzi sneaking to get video of Cornell’s private funeral almost 2 months prior. What we couldn’t see, we certainly could hear – that sweet voice of ChesterBe’s singing Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah”. What a truly beautiful song for a beautiful human.

Then we get to July 20, 2 months later. We’re still grieving over Cornell’s death – but if that’s not enough, Chester plans his suicide to fall directly on his best friend’s birthday…….Chris Cornell. I believe he did that so he’d be connected to him for eternity.

Chester & Chris had met almost 15 years prior to both of their deaths. In fact if you didn’t know, Bennington was the Godfather to Cornell’s son, C-Ball. It’s my hope that if there really truly is something beautiful after death, it’s my sincere hope that their souls are at peace. Both are missed and always will be.

I think it’s important to remind people that when you make that ultimate decision to take your life, you’re only ending your pain. The aftermath is devastation. Devastation to your immediate family and close friends. The Suicide Prevention Helpline is available 24/7/365 – dial 988 from your phone (landline or mobile). For more information visit https://988lifeline.org/ – outside of the U.S. check what’s available in your country🌏🙏🏻
Lastly, I’m sharing a song that was on the last album that came out with Chester. The song is “Talking to Myself” off One More Light. The lyrics give you an idea of what he was dealing with at the time of writing the album. Could you imagine what those lyrics might’ve looked like had the album not been released yet? The passing of Cornell, I imagine they’d be vastly different as would the rest of the album. Who know though; life is very unpredictable. Losing someone you love, whether a friend, partner or family member, it still hurts.
